Skin & hair: the pros' advice for this autumn!
The skin is the largest organ in the human body. It protects us from external aggression, stimulates the immune system and metabolic processes, and is our largest sensory organ. Our hair also plays an important role: it protects the scalp from UV rays, has a thermal regulation function and, like the face, helps to build our appearance.
That's why we asked Sebastien Besnier, creator of the prestigious eponymous hairdressing salon in the Bon Marché Rive Gauche department stores', to share with us his tips for a good autumn hair day! For you, a professional exchange with our facialist coaches.
As with the skin, do the needs of the hair change in autumn?
S.B: "The needs of the hair in autumn are often linked to a relaxation of stress in summer, which results in greater hair loss. I therefore recommend an increased intake of biotin, zinc and selenium to encourage the re-launch of the hair growth cycle. But if hair loss persists, it is best to consult a doctor.
What is your hair routine for this season?
S.B: "My top tip is to take the time to look after your hair, but also your scalp. Why not set up a hair routine once a week! Plant-based treatments are also moments of relaxation: we apply sesame or jojoba oil to the scalp, and coconut or argan oil to the lengths. Then leave under a warm towel for a few minutes. For a truly relaxing moment, you can add a few drops of lavender or ylang-ylang oil.
Hair and skin: the same battle!
The older we get, the more our skin and hair change significantly. They regenerate less well, become drier, thinner and more sensitive, and are no longer able to cope as well with factors such as stress, UV rays, exhaust fumes and pollution. The more fragile the skin and hair are in the face of external aggressions, the more important it becomes to stimulate their capacity to protect and "repair" themselves.
S.B : " Indeed, all year long the hair and scalp are subjected to these external aggressions in addition to the heat of thermal appliances (hair dryer, straightener...), colouring and balayage...it is therefore necessary to moisturise, protect and repair our hair at the right time. Professionals like us are also here to advise on the right treatments to follow.
